Active Kids Program
8 WEEK SWIM PROGRAM - Ages 4.5+
All lessons are 1:1 and customised to the level, ability and progression of each individual child. A chance to boost swimming skills with our 8 week 1:1 swim program. The continuous reinforcement of swimming consolidates skills and accelerates development and progression especially on a 1:1 basis. With no distractions from group lessons or children trying to learn side by side at different levels and abilities. A great opportunity for children to get a much needed 1:1 kick start to learning the fundamentals whilst it’s an amazing opportunity for swimmers to progress their existing skills to the next level. WEEK 1
Aim: Gain an understanding of each child's level and current swim ability to adjust the program to suit. Activities: • Safe entry into the water from the poolside • Exit the water safely onto the poolside • How to signal for help from the water • Submersion and blowing bubbles • Recover an object from pool floor • Learn back floating (starfish) • Kicking practice with kick board - breathing and blowing bubbles WEEK 2
Aim: Week 1 skills revision, plus floating and moving through water. Activities: • Week 1 revision • Learn to tread water - egg beater kick style • Float front and back and recover to standing position or treading water position • Push off the wall in torpedo and glide position • Kickboard practice front and back position • Introduce arm rotation on kickboard WEEK 3
Aim: Previous skill revision, plus over arm stroke progression. Activities: • Previous week revision • Streamline push off the wall no breathing • Kickboard kicking practice with bubbles • Kickboard arm rotation with kicking • Introduce dolphin kick WEEK 4
Aim: Basic stroke revision, introduce side breathing. Activities: • Previous weeks revision • Swim overarm without float • Introduce backstroke arms (soldier arms) • Introduce beginner dives and unassisted swim back to the wall and exit the water WEEK 5
Aim: Stoke progression. Activities: • Practice freestyle stroke • Practice backstroke • Introduce breaststroke (froggy) legs with the kick board or noodle • Practice diving WEEK 6
Aim: Stroke development and distance swim progression (distance altered to level of learning) Activities: • Practice freestyle stroke • Practice breaststroke (froggy) legs • Introduce breaststroke arms • Practice dolphin kick • Practice diving WEEK 7
Aim: Stroke development and distance swim progression (distance altered to level of learning) Activities: • Practice freestyle stroke • Practice breaststroke • Practice backstroke • Introduce butterfly arms (jump off the bottom of the pool with monster arms) WEEK 8
Aim: Recap all learning (distance altered to level of learning) Activities: • Dive and demonstrate freestyle for 25 metres • Demonstrate backstroke for 25 metres • Demonstrate breaststroke for 25 metres • Demonstrate dolphin kicking for 15 metres • Dive underwater and retrieve an object • Tread water for 1 min, transition to back float for 30 secs and back to treading water for 30 secs |
Program costWhere: Queenscliff Rockpool Session: 8 week program Cost: $320pp for the 8 week program ($40 per 30 min weekly session for 1:1) Lessons are run at Queenscliff Rockpool which replicates the ocean environment so that we can encourage children to become strong swimmers and emphasise how important water safety is.
Full wetsuits are advised. Dependent on the level and ability of your child we can exchange pool sessions for ocean based lessons upon parental approval after the initial first lesson. Please contact me directly if you would like to discuss this option. NOTE: This is a guide to the basic swim program. Due to working 1:1 with kids this may alter slightly as each kid learns and progresses at different rates for different age groups, so adjustments can be made.

- Please note that we only accept the Active Kids voucher for activities of at least 8 consecutive weeks in duration (a school term) in accordance with the Active Kids Provider Terms and Conditions | NSW Government
School holiday programs/clinics/shorter program offerings are not suitable for the application of Active Kids vouchers. - Should you wish to use the Active Kids voucher for specific training lessons, you are required to prepay 8 lessons and commit you child to an 8 consecutive weeks of swim training.
